Halla na Cathrach, Corcaigh: The administrative headquarters of Cork City Council was rebuilt in the 1930’s after being destroyed by the Black and Tans on 11th December, 1920, during the War of Independence.
Designed by Jones & Kelly Architects, Dublin, and built by John Sisk & Son, using limestone quarried in Little Island, Co. Cork, it was officially opened by Eamon de Valera on 8th of September, 1936.
The building is an outstanding imposing structure facing the River Lee and also houses the offices of the sitting Lord Mayor.
